Clamp retractable ac current transformer is used in a variety of industrial applications like electricity, communication, railway, oil field, construction, weather study, scientific research and so on. Its sharp nose design enables the device to clamp onto narrow or densely wired circuits without disconnecting them, ensuring safety and convenience during measurement. It can be easily connected with tools like phase testers, power checkers, data recorders, and digital meters for effective analysis of electrical parameters.

It works by using rigid jaws of ferrite iron wrapped with coils of copper wire to serve as its primary turns or windings. Current flowing through these conductors produces an alternating magnetic field that induces a proportional signal in the secondary windings to be outputted into the meter. This can be measured as either current (some older clamp accessories plug into the current jacks of meters) or voltage, depending on the number of windings in the secondary.
